It has been suggested that Red Bull buy Lando Norris out of his McLaren contract and replace Sergio Perez as Max Verstappen’s teammate. Despite their disagreements during the 2022 season, the Dutch driver and Perez put their differences aside to finish first and third in the Drivers’ Championship, respectively, as they shared a celebration at the end of the season.
Norris’ McLaren contract ends in 2025, while Perez signed a two-year extension in May to stay at Red Bull until 2024, but Sky Sports F1 pundit Karun Chandhok believes that a change needs to be made.
On Sky Sports’ 2022 season review program, Chandhok stated, “I think they [Red Bull] should be working hard to try and sign Lando Norris.” Host Simon Lazenby concurred with Chandhok. Absolutely, exactly right, the host said. “I wonder if he thinks that his deal with McLaren, which runs through the end of 2025, is too long.”
As Daniel Ricciardo has only recently signed a deal with the club, Lazenby predicts that there may be significant changes at Red Bull. The host said, “He’s already considering when he finishes racing.” If he is thinking that, Red Bull must be thinking the same thing. Personally, I would be looking for another person to enter.
